Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, has formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The submission took place on Thursday at the APC secretariat, marking his official entry into the race to succeed the current administration.
The development signals a significant escalation in political activities within the ruling party as the 2027 elections draw nearer. Mustapha is widely regarded by party stakeholders as one of the leading contenders in the APC governorship contest. He is seen as a strong political figure amid growing concerns among party loyalists over renewed opposition activities linked to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
