The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has joined Nigerians in celebrating the 2026 Democracy Day, honoring the victory of the people's will and the sacrifices of democratic heroes. The party praised President Bola Tinubu's commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting accountability, and laying the foundation for a prosperous Nigeria.
Abia APC Commends Tinubu's Reforms
Uche Aguoru, the party's publicity secretary, highlighted Tinubu's courage in implementing major reforms that address long-standing structural challenges. While these reforms may require temporary sacrifices, they are essential for building a stronger economy, attracting investments, creating jobs, and stabilizing public finances. The statement, sent to Legit.ng on Friday, June 12, emphasized that Tinubu's leadership has rekindled hope for a Nigeria that works for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.
The Abia APC called on citizens to actively participate in governance and support policies that advance the collective good. The party urged the people of Abia State to remain steadfast in their commitment to democratic values, national unity, peace, and development.
Tinubu Addresses Insecurity
During his Democracy Day address on June 12, President Tinubu assured Nigerians of his administration's commitment to ending killings, kidnappings, and terrorism. He outlined both military operations and non-violent measures, including expanded recruitment into the police and armed forces and increased defense funding. Tinubu noted that thousands of personnel are being added to security agencies under ongoing reforms, with the largest-ever defense allocation in the 2026 budget. Coordinated operations have already weakened terrorist networks and reduced violence in several hotspots.
