The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-El-Kabir, emphasizing the importance of sustained prayers, national unity, and support for the underprivileged.

Call for Unity and Charity

In a Sallah message released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau urged all Nigerians to use the celebration as a moment to pray for peace, unity, and the continued advancement of the country. He highlighted the significance of the season, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's unwavering submission to Allah's will.

“This season reminds us of total submission to the will of Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim. True believers must uphold the values of sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, justice, and charity,” Senator Barau stated.

Prayers for Pilgrims and National Leaders

Senator Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, congratulated Nigerian pilgrims currently performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia. He urged them to remember Nigeria and its leaders in their prayers at the holy sites, emphasizing that such prayers are invaluable for national development. “I urge the pilgrims to pray for enduring peace, stability, and prosperity in our country,” he added.

Support for President Tinubu

The Deputy Senate President called on Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging the President's commitment to addressing the nation's challenges and improving citizens' well-being. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to demonstrate leadership and commitment towards addressing the challenges facing our country. With sustained efforts and the support of all Nigerians, we are confident that the nation will achieve greater stability and prosperity,” Barau said.

Encouragement for National Unity

Senator Barau encouraged citizens to extend a helping hand to the poor and needy, fostering a spirit of compassion and solidarity. He urged Nigerians to set aside differences and work collectively toward building a united, peaceful, and economically robust nation. “In the spirit of this season, let us extend a hand of support to the poor and needy around us, and regardless of our differences, recommit ourselves to building a united, peaceful, and economically strong nation,” he concluded.

The message ended with a heartfelt “Eid Mubarak!” to all Muslims and Nigerians celebrating the festival.
