ISWAP Command Centre Degraded, Terror Deaths Down 81%

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that Nigeria has successfully degraded the command centre of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Arege, Borno State. This achievement followed collaborative training with the United States, France, and other European nations, enabling precision targeting.

Democracy Day Address

Speaking during his 2026 Democracy Day speech on Friday, Tinubu expressed satisfaction that terror-related deaths have dropped by 81 percent since 2015. He revealed that over 13,000 terrorists have been neutralised in the past year alone.

Surrender Window Open

The President also announced that the door to surrender remains open, noting that more than 124,000 fighters and their dependents have laid down their arms since 2023 through Operation Safe Corridor. He issued a stern warning: “To bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of terror: Surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian State. These windows of surrender will not remain open forever. No mercy will be shown to those who trade in the blood of Nigerians.”
