NIPR Officials Inspect Kaduna Facilities, Say Insecurity Claims Are Exaggerated
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for establishing a Command and Control Centre as an intelligence gathering hub to combat insecurity. During a media tour on Monday, officials highlighted that while Kaduna faces security challenges like other states, the situation is grossly exaggerated.
Security Efforts and Media Tour
Chief Yomi Badejo Okusanya, Chairman of the Planning Committee for the Nigerian Public Relations Week 2026, led the inspection of modern security facilities, road networks, public health centers, hospitals, schools, and transport terminals. He acknowledged external pressures discouraging the event in Kaduna but argued the state is safer than perceived.
"Yes, it has some challenges like every other place, but I think two things; efforts have been made to tackle this issue and then secondly it's not as bad as what people think," Okusanya stated. He advised the Kaduna State Government to publicize its security efforts nationally and recommended replicating the Command and Control Centre across all 23 local government headquarters.
Healthcare and Infrastructure Upgrades
The tour included visits to Badarawa Primary Healthcare Centre, Kawo General Hospital, Government Secondary School Nasarawan Rigachukun, the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development, and the under-construction Kakuri Southern Terminal.
At Badarawa PHC, Health Commissioner Hajiya Umma K Ahmad revealed that Kaduna is the only subnational entity to upgrade all 255 PHCs to Level 2, operating 24 hours with basic emergency, obstetrics, and neonatal care.
"A woman can walk into this facility, do her antenatal clinic, deliver in this facility and then her baby will do immunization and other basic care. And then if the patient requires referral, then there is a referral pathway," she explained.Ahmad added that Governor Sani approved CONMESS and CONHESS salary scales for health workers, along with increased hazard allowances.
Vocational Training and Skills Development
At the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development, Provost Malam Hussaini Haruna Muhammad detailed the institute's three campuses in Soba, Rigachukun, and Samarun Kataf, serving northern, central, and southern senatorial districts.
The institute offers:
- 14 trade areas with three course types
- National Skills Qualification (NSQ) with international recognition
- Level Qualification courses lasting six months
- Unit Qualification for short-term and two-week cosmetology courses
Muhammad also highlighted a Recognition of Prior Learning module for skilled artisans seeking certification.
Overall, NIPR officials emphasized Kaduna's progress in security, healthcare, and education, urging broader awareness of these achievements to counter negative perceptions.
