Ogun Enjoys Unprecedented Stability Under Abiodun

The Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, has stated that the sustained peace and stability in Ogun State are due to the deliberate policies and strategic interventions of Governor Dapo Abiodun. These measures focus on promoting security, social harmony, and sustainable development.

Achievements Over Seven Years

Akinmade made this remark on Tuesday while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta about the accomplishments of the Abiodun administration over the past seven years. He described peace and security as one of the administration’s greatest achievements.

According to him, Governor Abiodun’s commitment to creating a peaceful and secure environment has laid the foundation for socio-economic growth and massive infrastructural development across the state.

“One thing you cannot take away from this administration is the peace and stability we are enjoying in Ogun State. Anywhere you go in the state, you can breathe the air of freedom, safety, and peace,” he said.

“This did not happen by accident. It is the result of deliberate government policies and sustained efforts aimed at creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive, investments can flourish, and citizens can live productively.”

Economic Growth and Investment

Akinmade explained that the peaceful atmosphere has continued to attract both local and foreign investors, leading to the establishment of new industries and expansion of existing businesses. He noted that the resulting economic activities have translated into job creation and significant economic growth.

According to him, Ogun State’s economy has expanded from about N3 trillion to N17 trillion under Governor Abiodun’s administration, positioning the state among the fastest-growing economies in the country.

The governor’s aide said the administration’s ISEYA development agenda has provided the framework for delivering critical infrastructure, improving social services, advancing education, empowering youths and women, and boosting agricultural productivity.

Infrastructure Development

Highlighting achievements in infrastructure, Akinmade disclosed that the administration has constructed, reconstructed, and rehabilitated more than 1,700 kilometres of roads across the 20 local government areas of the state. He said these projects have significantly improved connectivity and enhanced economic activities across Ogun communities.

He also pointed to the development of new housing estates in major towns across the state, designed to cater to different categories of residents and support the growing population driven by increased economic opportunities.

On aviation infrastructure, Akinmade described the newly constructed airport as a world-class facility equipped with modern aviation technology. He noted that the airport recently facilitated the airlift of Ogun State pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise to Saudi Arabia.

Other Notable Achievements

The Special Adviser further stated that the administration has recorded notable achievements in agriculture, ICT development, youth and women empowerment, and skills acquisition programmes. He identified the establishment of Ogun TechHub as one of the administration’s strategic investments aimed at nurturing digitally skilled youths and promoting innovation.

Akinmade also commended Governor Abiodun for completing several abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations, describing the move as evidence of prudent management of public resources and commitment to continuity in governance.

He maintained that Governor Abiodun has exceeded expectations in governance and service delivery and remains committed to leaving Ogun State in a stronger and better condition before the expiration of his tenure in May 2027.

“Governor Abiodun is committed to consolidating on the gains already recorded and ensuring that the state continues on the path of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development. His goal is to leave Ogun State better, stronger, and more competitive than he met it,” Akinmade said.
