The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating two prominent indigenes of the state for key diplomatic roles.
A Double Honour for Ondo State
In a significant development announced by the Presidency on December 4, 2025, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim was nominated as a non-career ambassador, while Abimbola Samuel Reuben was put forward as a career envoy. The state APC leadership has hailed this move as a "double honour" for Ondo State, reflecting the President's recognition of the state's contribution to national development.
Party Leadership Expresses Gratitude
Addressing journalists in Akure, the state capital, the Ondo APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, stated that the appointments demonstrate President Tinubu's confidence in the competence and proven records of the two nominees. He emphasized that the selections are a clear testament to their capacity, dedication, and outstanding service.
Adetimehin described Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as an accomplished businessman, scholar, and politician whose contributions to national development make him a deserving candidate. He highlighted that Ibrahim's vast experience in global affairs, combined with his academic and entrepreneurial achievements, will significantly enhance Nigeria's representation internationally.
Regarding Abimbola Samuel Reuben, the party chairman noted his nomination recognizes years of dedication and competence within the diplomatic service. The APC expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for finding both sons of Ondo State worthy of these honourable responsibilities.
Confidence in Effective Representation
The party expressed strong confidence that both nominees will uphold Nigeria's interests globally. "We believe that both nominees will represent Nigeria with dignity, intelligence, and patriotism," Adetimehin said. He stressed that their professional and personal track records point to a future of effective and proud representation for both the nation and Ondo State.
The Ondo APC considers the dual nomination a significant boost for the state, interpreting the gesture as a demonstration of the President's continued trust in its people. The party views this as a positive step that brings pride and recognition to Ondo within the federal government's appointments.
