Residents of Enugu State received a festive season boost as a political support group aligned with President Bola Tinubu distributed essential food items, coupling the gesture with a strong message of unity and patience.
Christmas Gesture Amid Food Security Concerns
The distribution exercise was carried out by the South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA) in commemoration of the Christmas celebration. Belusochukwu Enwere, the national coordinator of SERHA, personally oversaw the event, which took place in December 2025.
Enwere explicitly linked the initiative to the ongoing national challenge of food security. He stated that the group's intervention was a direct response to this reality, aimed at supporting households at the grassroots level during the festive period. He described the food sharing as a "modest contribution" to help families in Enugu put meals on their tables.
A Symbol of Hope and Solidarity
Beyond addressing immediate nutritional needs, SERHA framed the distribution as a symbolic act. Enwere emphasized that the gesture represented hope, solidarity, and unity in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. He conveyed that while food items alone cannot solve all socioeconomic issues, the action was meant to reassure the people that they are not forgotten and that support is available.
The coordinator urged beneficiaries to use the provided items judiciously. He also assured them that this was not an isolated event but one of several planned engagements intended to improve livelihoods, strengthen community resilience, and foster a greater sense of togetherness.
Praise for Tinubu's Policies in the Southeast
During the event, Enwere commended President Bola Tinubu, highlighting specific policies his administration has implemented. He particularly praised the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), which he said is driving significant development across the Igbo-dominated region.
Enwere also lauded the Tinubu administration for including young Nigerians in governance, calling it a commendable step toward national growth and sustainability. He stated that SERHA's actions reflect the people-centred philosophy of the President's Renewed Hope Agenda and vowed that the group would continue to champion inclusive development and shared prosperity across the southeast.
The group pledged to continue collaborating with relevant institutions and stakeholders to implement programs beneficial to the region.
