Security Institute Commends Uba Sani for Kaduna Peace Model

The National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) has commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for the significant progress achieved in combating security challenges through the coordinated framework of the Kaduna Peace Model.

Study Tour Insights

The Team Lead of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 19, Syndicate 4, Uduak Uduak Ituen, made the commendation during a courtesy call at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House. Ituen explained that they were in Kaduna for a study tour aimed at bridging theory with practical reality. She noted that the insights gained during the tour would enrich the syndicate papers and contribute to actionable recommendations for strengthening Nigeria’s national security.

Governor of the Year Award

Ituen highlighted that Governor Sani’s remarkable progress in the Kaduna Peace Model led to his conferment of the prestigious 2026 Governor of the Year award in March by the National Leadership Summit Group. She stated that this recognition speaks volumes about his commitment to security, inclusive governance, and people-centred development in Kaduna State.

Governor’s Response

In his response, Governor Uba Sani noted that the Kaduna State experience has underscored a fundamental truth: sustainable security is built not solely on enforcement, but on intelligence, trust, and inclusion. He emphasized that through the deliberate integration of intelligence-led operations, strengthened inter-agency synergy, and sustained community engagement, tangible progress has been recorded in restoring peace and public confidence.

Holistic Approach to Security

The Governor disclosed that security is inseparable from development, noting that where opportunity is absent, instability often takes root. Consequently, his administration has adopted a holistic approach, linking security interventions with investments in infrastructure, education, and social welfare, thereby addressing both the symptoms and underlying causes of insecurity.

Value of the Visit

Governor Sani described the EIMC’s visit as both timely and invaluable, offering a platform for meaningful exchange, an opportunity to share insights, interrogate strategies, and distil lessons that can inform policy and practice at both state and national levels. He stressed that such engagements are essential to the evolution of a responsive and resilient security architecture. He encouraged the team to approach the study tour with openness and intellectual curiosity, engage deeply, ask probing questions, and explore avenues for collaboration that will strengthen the collective capacity to safeguard the nation.
