Christmas Cheer in Ebonyi: Tinubu Support Group Distributes Food to Vulnerable Residents
Tinubu group shares Christmas food items in Ebonyi

In a gesture of festive season goodwill, a support group loyal to President Bola Tinubu has provided Christmas food items to vulnerable residents in Ebonyi State, southeast Nigeria. The initiative, which took place in Abakaliki, is aimed at alleviating the impact of current economic challenges during the holiday period.

Grassroots Support Amid Economic Challenges

The distribution was carried out by the South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA), Ebonyi state chapter. The group's national coordinator, Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere, spearheaded the event on December 26, 2025. He explained that the primary goal was to support less privileged households and provide a cushion against prevailing economic difficulties.

Enwere stated that the action reaffirms the group's dedication to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. He connected the outreach directly to the vision of the Tinubu administration, describing the Renewed Hope Agenda as being anchored on inclusiveness and restoring hope to citizens across the nation.

Ebonyi: A Critical Partner in Progress

During the ceremony, Ambassador Enwere highlighted the importance of Ebonyi State within the southeastern region. He commended the resilience and industrious nature of its people. The coordinator framed the food distribution as a dual-purpose act: it serves as an appreciation for the public's support and as a reassurance that their welfare remains a key priority under the current national agenda.

Enwere extended gratitude to various stakeholders who facilitated the programme. These included SERHA coordinators, volunteers, community leaders, traditional rulers, and representatives from women and youth groups. Security agencies were also acknowledged for their role in ensuring a smooth process.

A Call for Continued Backing of Government Policies

Beyond the charitable act, the event carried a political message. Ambassador Enwere encouraged the beneficiaries to accept the items in a spirit of goodwill and to continue their support for the policies and programmes of the Tinubu government. He argued that these policies are targeted at achieving sustainable development and economic empowerment for all Nigerians.

He concluded by wishing the people of Ebonyi a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, expressing prayers for good health, peace, and renewed hope across the country.

Related Developments in Festive Giving

In a related development highlighting similar festive season philanthropy, a federal lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has flagged off a separate large-scale distribution of relief materials. The items, valued at approximately One Billion Naira (₦1 billion), are intended for widows and constituents in his area.

The distribution includes a substantial quantity of foodstuffs and other essentials such as:

  • 24,000 bags of 5kg rice
  • 10,000 packs of 2kg garri
  • 10,000 six-yard wrappers for widows
  • Salt, sugar, and noodles

This initiative contrasts with a reported incident of festive season hardship elsewhere, where armed bandits in Kaduna State were said to have snatched foodstuffs and drinks from a motorcyclist on his way home for Christmas in December 2024.
