The Bauchi State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough with the arrest of five members of a notorious armed robbery gang. The suspects are linked to a violent attack on security personnel from the Nigerian Forestry and Security Services and a series of robberies terrorising Giade town.
Details of the Violent Attack
On January 9, 2026, around 2:30 AM, a gang of about seven armed men carried out a brazen assault. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the criminals, wielding cutlasses, knives, sticks, and a dane gun, attacked two forestry guards. The victims, Mohammed Musa (aka Baushe), 40, and Auwal Maidawa, both attached to the Giade Emirate Council, sustained injuries during the incident.
The assailants robbed the guards of their valuables, which included one dane gun, a torchlight, and a handset. A tip-off from a concerned citizen at about 3:00 AM on the same day prompted immediate police action.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Acting swiftly on the received information, a detective team led by the Giade Divisional Police Officer, CSP Bello Yusuf Kumo, launched a manhunt. Their efforts led to the initial arrest of Aminu Abdulkadir, 22, from Unguwar Guru.
Following interrogation, Abdulkadir named his accomplices, leading to the capture of four other gang members. The police subsequently arrested:
- Habu Musa (alias Habule), 24
- Adamu Samaila (alias Aliyos), 24
- Yusuf Sabo (alias Isibu Dan tsure), 24
- Abdullahi Garba (alias Audu guntu), 25

Gang's Reign of Terror and Recovered Items
Preliminary investigations revealed that this gang was responsible for a wave of fear in Giade. They repeatedly conspired to break into homes, robbing occupants of valuables estimated at One Million Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N1,200,000). Stolen items included thirteen handsets, wrappers, lace fabric, an MP3 player, and a Bluetooth device.
During the operation, police recovered a cache of items from the suspects, including:
- Two red Boxer motorcycles
- Sharp knives and a saw used for breaking into houses or shops

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the suspects be charged to court for their established offences as the investigation continues. This arrest brings relief to the residents of Giade and demonstrates the police command's commitment to tackling violent crime in Bauchi State.
