Bauchi Widows Get Starter Packs, Tuition Fees from NGO

A non-governmental organization, Radiant Care Foundation, has distributed starter packs in various skills and trades while also covering tuition fees for 30 students across different schools in Bauchi State. The initiative aims to empower widows and other vulnerable individuals in the community.

Foundation's Mission and Motivation

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Comfort Bello-Aliyu, revealed that the organization was established to give back to society in honor of her late mother, Mrs. Abigail Bosede Bello, who passed away 20 years ago. Comfort explained that the family, recognizing the selfless life their mother led—having accommodated many less privileged people in her community—established the foundation to continue her charitable efforts.

Items Distributed

During the event, the foundation provided two sewing machines, four grinding machines, three shoe filling machines, three business support packs, and tuition fees for 30 underprivileged pupils. The beneficiaries of the starter packs were primarily widows. Other recipients included individuals trained by Kairos Initiative in shoemaking, tailoring, and other trades.

Previous Outreach Activities

Comfort, the team lead of the foundation, stated that the organization has reached out to thousands of beneficiaries in health, education, and empowerment support. She noted, "Last year, we were at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), assisting patients across the hospital wards. We have also carried out medical outreaches at the community level to screen and treat many people. We have been doing these in honor of our late mother."

Event Attendees

The launch and the 20th remembrance ceremony were attended by prominent clerics, including the Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Pastor Promise Nuhu Yohanna.
