A British couple has been arrested after their six-month-old baby tested positive for cocaine, according to reports. The incident occurred in a hotel in Benalmadena, a popular resort on the Costa del Sol in Spain.
Couple Left Children Unattended
The couple allegedly left their three young children alone in the hotel room to go out partying. The children, aged six months, two years, and four years, were found in a concerning state. Sources close to the investigation described the hotel room as messy, with the eldest child attempting to care for the others.
Baby Tested Positive for Cocaine
Medical tests revealed that the six-month-old baby had cocaine in their system. The baby, along with the siblings, has been taken into temporary care by the regional government of Junta de Andalucia. They were taken to Malaga's Materno Infantil Hospital for medical check-ups.
It remains unclear whether police waited for the parents to return to the hotel before arresting them or located them while they were still out. The hotel where the family was staying has not been named.
The children are now under the protection of social services as the investigation continues. The case highlights the dangers of parental neglect and substance abuse.
