Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have achieved a significant breakthrough in combating violent crime, after gunning down two members of a kidnapping syndicate and successfully rescuing two female victims in Ogwashi-Uku. The operation, which took place in the early hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026, also led to the recovery of a substantial sum of N4,200,000 believed to be part of the ransom collected from victims, alongside one AK-47 rifle and ammunition.

According to a detailed statement released by the command's spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the successful mission was a coordinated, intelligence-led effort involving the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad, in collaboration with military personnel. The operatives acted on a reported kidnapping incident in Ibusa and Enu-Ani Mega City, Ogwashi-Uku, meticulously trailing the suspects to their hideout along Obulu-Uku Power Line.
Upon arrival at approximately 0040 hours, the suspects immediately opened fire on the security forces, triggering a fierce gun duel. This confrontation resulted in the safe rescue of the two abducted women, while the two suspected kidnappers sustained fatal gunshot injuries during the exchange.

In addition to the N4.2 million in cash, which is suspected to be ransom money, the police seized one AK-47 rifle and nineteen rounds of ammunition.
