Father accused of abusing 3-month-old daughter claims 'training'

A Kentucky father has been arrested and charged with ten felony counts of criminal abuse after nanny-cam footage allegedly captured him abusing his three-month-old daughter. Shaun Webb, 36, was taken into custody on Friday, August 21, 2026, following an investigation by Boone County deputies.

Nanny-cam footage leads to arrest

The investigation began when an out-of-state family member provided deputies with video obtained from Webb's wife, the baby's mother. The footage, reportedly from a nanny-cam, shows Webb slapping his infant daughter in the face while she cries on August 19. In another instance, he is seen holding the baby up by the back of the head while covering her face, with her legs flailing, for about 19 seconds. The video also allegedly shows Webb covering the baby's face with his hand multiple times for several seconds.

According to the criminal complaint, Webb yelled "stop crying" and "you're going to learn!" during the incidents. The abuse is alleged to have occurred in Boone County, Kentucky.

Father admits to similar actions with son

Webb also has a two-year-old son. During the investigation, he admitted to doing the same to his son multiple times until the boy was nine months old. This admission broadens the scope of the alleged abuse beyond the infant daughter.

During an interview with detectives, Webb reportedly described his actions as a form of discipline. He said children are "like a dog, you have to train them and set boundaries." Regarding his daughter's crying, he stated it "triggers me, like nails on a chalkboard." He also admitted to covering her mouth and nose "not to cause harm, but to deprive her of oxygen" because it was an "action to train the behavior."

Legal consequences and impact

Webb now faces ten felony counts of criminal abuse, a serious charge that could result in significant prison time if convicted. The case highlights the importance of nanny-cam footage in uncovering alleged child abuse within the home. The Boone County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate, and the children's welfare is a primary concern for authorities. The case is expected to proceed through the Kentucky court system.
