A vehicle was completely submerged following severe flash floods in the Agungi and Ajiran areas of Lekki after torrential rainfall. Local eyewitness accounts and social media footage surfaced showing the car trapped in deep floodwaters.
Owner's Lament
In video footage capturing the incident, an anguished car owner can be heard lamenting the loss of his vehicle. The owner stated that he had explicitly instructed his driver to avoid the flooded route, but the driver defied the warning and navigated the deep waters at high speed.
Recurring Drainage Issues
The incident highlights the recurring drainage challenges faced by residents in the axis, as well as the dangers of navigating flash floods. Residents have repeatedly called for improved drainage infrastructure to prevent such occurrences.
