Ijele Speaks: Is 'Speaking' Too Much?
There is a young man popularly known as Ijele Speaks. He gained popularity when he began to stand up to the group of secessionists in the South East region of the country, called IPOB, formed by Nnamdi Kanu, who is serving a life sentence in a correctional facility for terrorism-related offences. Ijele Speaks, in collaboration with the Nigerian military and other security agencies, has been taking back towns and villages seized by the notorious 'IPOB unknown gunmen'. His efforts have paid off, and there has been relative peace and stability in the region.
Ijele Speaks does not only accompany the military; he is also very vocal about their activities, traversing all the major television and radio stations as well as podcast shows to discuss the ongoing initiative. Typical of someone doing something that attracts widespread attention and commendations, the propensity to 'over talk' often creeps in, and that may be what is happening to the young man. T4T was shocked when he listened to him on the Harrison Ofeogbu Podcast show, where he made a rather ridiculous claim that someone high up contacted him to 'assassinate' human rights activist and owner of a popular online news outfit, Omoyele Sowore.
As incredible as the claim was, Ijele Speaks kept a straight face while making it, and T4T was left wondering when he put out a classified advert that he was also an assassin aside from being the advocate of the wellbeing of his Igbo people. The question now is: why would anybody in government go and 'hire' Ijele Speaks to assassinate Sowore for his activism activities? How did that government security agent arrive at the conclusion that Ijele Speaks has the capability to carry out a government-sanctioned assassination? If successive military governments in the past did not kill Sowore, why would a civilian government now, facing all forms of scathing attacks from different individuals worse than what Sowore is dishing out, so desperately want him dead that it would have to contract Ijele Speaks to do that?
Well, if the DSS is still active, one expects that he should be answering questions by now and telling the secret police the name of the person who attempted to contract him to kill Sowore. That is how it should be done, but then, what does T4T know?
Harry B's Unlucky Or What?
Nollywood star Harry B is one very talented individual. He has carved a niche for himself in the nation's movie industry and is also a fantastic rap artiste. T4T is always blown away every time he sees his music videos. He raps in his Igbo and English languages, and the energy that exudes from the over 60-year-old singer is contagious. So, why has Harry B never 'blown'? Maybe the oldest Afro pop rapper in Nigeria is too old for the genre of music he is doing, so the youngsters who usually listen to that kind of music do not connect with him. They would rather keep embracing Phyno, Olamide, Flavour, and the rest instead of a grandpa jumping around with heavy-looking bling on his neck. Wicked kids. Well, maybe Harry B should switch to the Igbo highlife genre and sing like the late Osita Osadebe, Oliver de Coque, and other Igbo highlife greats, because these children do not want to look at baba's face. Lord, if you know what T4T means here.
