The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended six individuals believed to be part of a mob that brutally killed two male travellers who were falsely accused of stealing a motorcycle. The victims, Aliyu Mohammed, 40, and Muhammadu Sani, 45, were on their way to Tundun Wada Zaria to visit a sick uncle on July 1 when the incident occurred.
Details of the Incident
According to the police, the two victims were travelling on a motorcycle through Gidan Kalu Village when unidentified persons became suspicious upon seeing them riding a new motorcycle. The individuals began shouting “thieves,” prompting the travellers to abandon the motorcycle and flee in fear for their lives. However, an angry mob pursued them and attacked the men, ultimately lynching them to death.
Police Response and Arrests
Upon receiving a complaint, police operatives from the Birnin Yero division launched an investigation and arrested Abdullahi Mukailu Kigo along with five other suspects. The suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime and are currently in police custody. Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend any other individuals who participated in the unlawful killing of the two victims.
