Kano Teacher Suffers Horrific Machete Attack During Robbery Intervention
In a shocking incident of violence, a schoolteacher in Kano State has been left critically injured after armed robbers severed his hand with a machete during a brutal roadside attack. The victim, identified as Isah Sallama, was assaulted in the Buran district of Bunkure Local Government Area along Funkuyi road on Wednesday night.
Failed Gunshot Leads to Brutal Machete Assault
According to official statements from the Rano Emirate Council, the attackers initially attempted to shoot Sallama during the robbery attempt. When their firearm failed to discharge, they resorted to using a machete, brutally chopping off his hand and leaving him in critical condition.
The violent escalation occurred when Sallama intervened to help another man, Malam Sauwanu Hadi, who was being robbed of his motorcycle and phone by the assailants. The District Head of Bunkure, Alhaji Aminu Isa Umaru, promptly reported the incident to the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isa Umaru.
Emir Orders Investigation and Provides Support
The Emir of Rano has strongly condemned the attack and ordered security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. In a compassionate response, he approved a donation of N100,000 to assist with Sallama's urgent medical treatment and recovery expenses.
The royal leader also called upon community leaders and security personnel to intensify their efforts against robbery and related criminal activities in the area, emphasizing the need for enhanced protection for citizens.
