Suspect in Monaco Bombing Found Dead in Ukraine
Anastasiia Berezovska, the 39-year-old Ukrainian woman suspected of orchestrating a bomb attack on oligarch Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco, has been discovered dead near Kyiv after being shot. Her body was found around 11:00 pm on July 6, according to the Ukrainian newspaper Pravda, though no official confirmation has been provided by authorities.
Details of the Shooting
An investigative source revealed that Berezovska was shot dead by two Ukrainian law enforcement officials, who have since been arrested. One suspect is a serving officer in Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence service, while the other is a policeman. The source stated, 'One of them is a current officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate [GUR], the other is a former law enforcement officer.'
The Monaco Bomb Attack
Berezovska is alleged to have left a package in the entrance hall of an apartment building on June 29 at around 9:00 pm local time, then fled on foot before driving to Germany. The explosion severely injured Yermolaiev, his mistress, and his son. Yermolaiev, a sanctioned Ukrainian millionaire who had renounced his citizenship, later emerged from a coma. His partner, London-based Ukrainian Anna Nasobina, 46, remains in critical condition after her legs were amputated due to injuries. Their son, Ariel, 13, sustained minor injuries.
Interpol Red Notice and Disguise
An Interpol Red Notice had been issued for Berezovska, who speaks German, on charges of attempted murder, placing an explosive device on a public road with criminal intent, and criminal conspiracy. Monaco Deputy Prosecutor Morgan Raymond said she had been disguised as a man during the alleged attack.
Investigation and Motive
Berezovska reportedly arrived in Ukraine on July 1, just days before her death. Two suspects were detained after her body was discovered, including a serving military intelligence officer. There are suspicions that the bombing may be linked to disputes over a call center business in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, involving Yermolaiev and his adult son Artur, 35. Initially, it was believed that Yermolaiev’s wife, Anna Ermolaeva, 56, had been wounded, but she was not in the country at the time of the blast.
