Preacher Receives Unexpected N120 Million Alert
Dr Gideon Isah, a Nigerian preacher based in Lokoja, Kogi State, received an unexpected alert of N120 million in his bank account on a Sunday afternoon while he was away in Makurdi. The transaction, which he immediately suspected was an error, prompted him to take swift action. He contacted his lawyer the same day, who advised him to return the funds to the exact account from which they originated. Dr Isah followed this guidance and returned the full amount to the source account.
Woman from Kano Makes Contact
On Monday morning, Dr Isah received a call from a woman in Kano who had mistakenly transferred the money. She explained that she had visited her bank, which provided her with his phone number, and she pleaded for the return of her funds. When she sent her account details, Dr Isah noticed she provided a Moniepoint account number rather than the bank account the transfer had come from. Adhering to his lawyer's advice, he insisted on sending the money back to the originating account, which he did that same day.
The woman confirmed receipt of the money and called back to express her gratitude with prayers. She also offered him a financial token of appreciation for his honesty, which he politely declined. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, 9 July 2026, Dr Isah shared the story, urging others to always return unexpected funds to the same account they arrived from, noting that this was the safest and most legally sound course of action.
