Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended a man suspected to be an armed robber for unlawfully possessing two pump-action rifles. The arrest followed a swift response to actionable intelligence about the suspect's activities.

The suspect, identified as Segun Adenekan, who also goes by the alias 'Expensive', was taken into custody after police acted on information received. According to the Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident that led to the arrest occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Babaseyi explained that intelligence reports indicated Adenekan was in illegal possession of the firearms. The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly brandished the two pump-action rifles during a minor disagreement with another individual. This reckless action prompted the report that brought him to the attention of the authorities.

Investigation Aims to Uncover Weapon Source

The police spokesperson confirmed that the operatives moved quickly, resulting in the successful arrest of Adenekan and the recovery of the two dangerous weapons. He emphasized that an investigation has been launched with a key objective: to trace the origin and source of the recovered firearms.

"Investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the recovered firearms, after which the suspect will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation," DSP Babaseyi stated. This underscores the command's commitment to not only apprehending offenders but also dismantling the supply chains of illegal arms.
