A young Nigerian woman, identified on TikTok as @temiee_a, has expressed her frustration after her South African visa application was rejected for what she considers a trivial reason. The visa refusal occurred in March 2026, and she shared her experience in a viral video, highlighting that her bank statement lacked a stamp, a requirement she had never encountered in previous visa applications.
Visa Rejection Details
According to @temiee_a, she and her friends had planned a trip to South Africa for a significant event, but all their visa applications were denied. She stated: "It's my birthday week and according to how I planned this year, I'm supposed to be on my way to South Africa or packing my bags to be on my way, but that would not be happening because they denied me and my friends visas for the silliest reason I've ever heard."
The refusal letter cited that her bank statement was not stamped. She explained: "For me, they said my bank statement wasn't stamped, which I found very weird because I've never in my life needed to stamp my bank statement for any visa application. This is the first time I'm hearing that." She also noted that her friend's yellow fever vaccination card was deemed invalid, despite the friend having traveled to over 20 countries using the same document.
Appeal Attempt and Reaction
@temiee_a submitted an appeal within the 10-day window provided by the South African authorities. She went to her bank the next day, had the statement stamped, and emailed it. However, she never received a response. She said: "I was expecting them to get back to me in two weeks max. These guys didn't get back to me. That person in South Africa that denied our visa, God will judge you. I am actually pained, I can't lie. It pained me so much."
In the video, she also sent a message to the official who reviewed her application, expressing her disappointment.

The video garnered numerous comments from viewers. User @me noted: "Stamped Bank statements are standard in SA." @thetanakah advised: "Don't appeal, I heard that's more complicated. If you can apply again. Got the same feedback about bank statements and the second round was accepted within 2 days." @pinky__gcaba commented: "Okey countries have their own rules let's abide by those and not compare what other countries do." @Nina offered sympathy: "Sorry, hey I hope you try again soon. what you see in the socials is not really what's happening in the ground."
