According to the DCI, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) collaborated closely with officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) to target a suspected narcotics trafficking network. Acting on credible intelligence indicating that suspects were planning a drug exchange in Stock inauguration, Machakos County, the law enforcement team mobilized quickly.
However, upon arrival at the initial location, it was discovered that the planned meeting had been abruptly aborted. Undeterred, the operation was dynamically redirected to Ruaka in Kiambu County, based on real-time information provided by covert sources.
Evidence Seized and Suspects Identified
A thorough search conducted at a residence within Mbuti Apartment in Ruaka yielded a substantial haul of incriminating evidence. The recovered exhibits included multiple pellets and packages of substances strongly suspected to be narcotic drugs, digital weighing scales, several mobile phones, foreign passports, and a significant amount of cash in both Kenyan and Nigerian currencies.
The two individuals arrested during the operation have been identified as Okeke Ikechukwu, a Nigerian national, and Alex Opondo, a Kenyan citizen. Following their apprehension, the suspects were escorted to Ruaraka and Pangani Police Stations for formal processing and documentation.
