Church Secretary Details Eruku Attack, ₦100m Ransom Demand

The secretary of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, has broken his silence about the devastating attack that left multiple worshippers dead and others kidnapped. In a viral TikTok video that has sparked nationwide outrage, the church official provided chilling details about the bandits' ransom demands and the current state of the church community.

Church Secretary Reveals Attack Aftermath

Speaking in Yoruba from outside the church premises, the secretary confirmed that security forces including both policemen and military personnel are now surrounding the church to maintain peace. The video, shared by TikTok user @officialsobi1019, shows the secretary responding to sensitive questions about the attack's impact on the congregation.

"The incident that happened affected a lot of people," the secretary stated. "Many people didn't come to church, but people like us, some elderly individuals, and senior pastors are in the church. Everything is at peace now with security agents protecting us."

Victim Burial and Ransom Negotiations

The church secretary disclosed that the community has already buried two victims on Wednesday following the attack, with one remaining victim scheduled for burial on Friday since that person wasn't from the local area.

Most shockingly, he revealed the bandits' initial ransom demands: ₦100 million per person. Through negotiations, the amount was reduced to ₦20 million per person. The secretary emphasized that the church community preferred to negotiate collectively rather than individually for the kidnapped victims.

Security Situation and Community Impact

Despite the trauma, the secretary reported that the situation at the church has stabilized with security presence. However, attendance has significantly dropped as many worshippers remain fearful after the violent incident.

The viral video has drawn widespread attention to the ongoing security challenges in Kwara State, with many Nigerians expressing concern about the safety of worship centers across the country. The secretary's account provides the first detailed official perspective from within the affected church community since the attack occurred several days ago.
