Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, professionally known as Falz, has issued a strong call to action, urging citizens to directly confront their elected representatives over the country's worsening security crisis.
From Social Media to Direct Action
In a powerful video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, November 24, 2025, the artist expressed deep frustration with what he described as inadequate government responses to mass abductions. Falz specifically criticized the limited information provided about the release of kidnapping victims in Kwara and Niger states.
The activist referenced President's announcements about the freedom of 38 worshippers abducted from a church in Kwara State and 50 individuals from more than 300 kidnapped in Niger State. However, he emphasized the concerning absence of crucial details about these operations.
"There was no mention of any arrests being made, no mention of whether any ransom was paid, no mention of anyone being apprehended and brought to book. This does not cut it. It is just not enough," Falz stated emphatically.
Moving Beyond Online Activism
Falz voiced his exhaustion with passive social media responses to the security challenges. "I'm tired of one tweet here, one hashtag there, one post there, complaining on social media. We need to do more. We need to do a lot more," he declared.
While acknowledging that some individuals had approached him about organizing peaceful protests later in the week, which he described as a "great avenue," Falz stressed the urgency of immediate and strategic action.
He proposed a concrete plan of action where citizens should directly contact their representatives and senators through multiple channels:
- Phone calls
- Text messages
- Emails
- WhatsApp messages
"If there is one message that they're consistently getting, they would have no choice but to listen," Falz argued, emphasizing the power of coordinated communication.
Demanding Transparency and Accountability
The multi-award winning artist also urged Nigerians to demand a public hearing on security failures, broadcast live on television and streamed online. He highlighted the disturbing discrepancy between the "billions and billions" allocated for arms and ammunition and the current state of military preparedness.
Falz raised serious questions about military capability, citing instances of ambushed convoys and the murder of an Army general that was captured on video. To facilitate citizen action, he provided a message template for contacting lawmakers and shared a link to official contact details available on the National Assembly's website.
"This is a national emergency. We can't continue like this," Falz concluded, capturing the gravity of the security situation.
Recent Security Incidents
The call to action comes amid several high-profile abduction cases across the country:
- 26 schoolgirls kidnapped from Government Girls Comprehensive School in Maga, Kebbi State
- 215 students and 12 teachers abducted from St Mary's School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, with 50 managing to escape on Sunday
Additionally, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed the release of 38 abducted worshippers from Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government.
