Kogi Security Adviser Dismisses School Abduction Claims

The Kogi State Government has officially denied circulating reports about a bandit attack and attempted abduction of students at Kiri High School. Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), the Security Adviser to the state government, categorically dismissed the rumors that emerged on Wednesday, November 26.

What Actually Happened According to Officials

Earlier unconfirmed sources had claimed that bandits attacked Kiri High School, located in Aiyetoro Kiri within Kabba Bunu Local Government Area. The reports suggested the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday and that attackers attempted to kidnap some students.

The circulating story further alleged that members of the Kiri Vigilante Group quickly mobilized and confronted the assailants, successfully rescuing all students who had been taken during the alleged assault.

However, Commander Omodara provided a swift reaction, stating that nothing of such nature actually occurred at the school. He expressed surprise that individuals would fabricate and disseminate false information specifically designed to create tension within Kogi State.

Government Warning and Security Assurance

The Security Adviser issued a strong warning that the state government will actively pursue those responsible for spreading the fake news. Omodara emphasized that authorities view such individuals as collaborators with bandits terrorizing the state.

He consequently appealed to all residents of Kogi State to completely disregard the fabricated story. Omodara reassured the public that all security agents in the state remain on full red alert and are continuously monitoring every part of the state to prevent any security breaches.

The government official stressed that maintaining peace and security remains the administration's top priority, and they will not tolerate attempts to destabilize the state through misinformation campaigns.
