Kidnappers Demand N50m Ransom for Pregnant Woman and Husband in Edo
Pregnant Sister, Husband Abducted in Edo: N50m Ransom Demand

A Nigerian medical doctor has raised alarm over the abduction of his pregnant sister and her husband by kidnappers in Edo State, with the captors demanding a staggering N50 million ransom for their release.

Family's Desperate Plea for Help

Dr. Abdul Ganiyu Oseni took to social media platform X to cry out for assistance after his sister, Mrs. Zainab Segiru, who is expecting a child, and her husband were violently taken from their home on November 22, 2025. The distraught doctor revealed that the kidnappers made contact with the family the following day, threatening to kill the couple unless the enormous ransom is paid.

In his emotional post on X handle @AbdulGaniyuOse1, Dr. Oseni stated: "My sister and her husband were kidnapped from their house last night. They made contact today and threatening to kill them except we pay a ransom of #50m. Our families can't afford that to begin with."

Violent Home Invasion

The doctor provided chilling details of how the abduction occurred, explaining that the couple had just concluded their daily business activities and were securing their gate when the kidnappers forcefully entered their compound. The brazen attack highlights the growing security concerns in the region, where even homes are no longer safe havens.

Four days after the abduction, Dr. Oseni provided additional heartbreaking context about his sister's situation. He revealed that the pregnant victim is an HND 2 student at Auchi Polytechnic and also works as a fashion designer. The family's distress has been compounded by reports that the captives are being beaten mercilessly while the kidnappers refuse to negotiate the ransom amount.

Public Outcry and Reactions

The doctor's plea for help sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing concern about the deteriorating security situation in the country. User @90accuracy commented on the need for constant vigilance, while @joyforever74 questioned how such large ransoms are collected without trace.

Another user, @romasoul1, offered practical advice: "I'm deeply sorry to hear about your sister and her husband. Please reach out to local authorities such as the police department and provide them with any information they may need to help resolve the situation."

The alarming case has raised serious questions about security in Edo State and across Nigeria, with many citizens calling for more effective government intervention to protect ordinary citizens from the escalating kidnapping epidemic.
