In a significant counter-terrorism operation, Nigerian military forces have apprehended four individuals suspected of working as informants for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Adamawa State.
Operation Details and Arrests
The arrests were conducted by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with local hunters, on December 30, 2025. The operation was a clearance mission in the Garaha and Kakara general areas within Hong Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, the security team moved in at approximately 6:30 p.m. to capture the suspects.
The four men taken into custody have been identified as Chollu Alhaji, Malam Bako Abubakar, Naftali Gabriel, and Madaiba Joseph.
Alleged Role in Terrorist Attack
According to prominent security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspects are alleged to have played a critical role in a violent incident that occurred just a day before their arrest. They are accused of supplying intelligence that facilitated a successful terrorist assault on Dubang village, also in Hong LGA, on December 29.
This attack reportedly resulted in the tragic death of several residents, highlighting the severe consequences of the informants' alleged actions.
Current Status and Ongoing Investigation
Security sources confirm that the apprehended individuals are now in the custody of the Theatre Prosecution Section. They are currently undergoing a thorough investigation to uncover further details about their network and activities.
This operation underscores the continued collaboration between the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups in the fight against terrorism in the North East. It also demonstrates the military's focus on targeting the logistical and intelligence networks that support terrorist groups like ISWAP.
