NSCDC Deploys 1,070 Personnel Across Delta for Eid-el-Fitr Security Operations

In a proactive move to ensure safety during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Delta State has announced the deployment of 1,070 personnel across the state. This large-scale security operation is aimed at safeguarding lives, property, and critical national infrastructure, as Muslims nationwide prepare for the festive period.

Commandant Orders Statewide Deployment

The Delta State Commandant of the NSCDC, Chinedu Igbo, has ordered this extensive deployment, directing officers to focus on securing critical assets and public spaces expected to host large gatherings. The operation will cover key locations such as prayer grounds, recreational centres, schools, and other facilities vital to economic and social stability in the region.

In a statement issued in Asaba on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, Anthony Uchenna, Commandant Igbo emphasised the need for heightened vigilance and seamless coordination among all units. The directive also extends to component commanders and special forces, who have been tasked with identifying and securing potential flashpoints across Delta State.

Protection of Critical Infrastructure

The NSCDC has stressed that the protection of critical infrastructure, including schools and key public utilities, remains a central focus of this operation. This is particularly important during periods like Eid-el-Fitr, which historically attract heightened security risks due to increased public activities and gatherings.

The Command reiterated its commitment to working in synergy with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration. This collaborative approach is designed to enhance overall security measures and provide a safe environment for all residents and visitors during the festivities.

Goodwill Message and Future Hopes

Commandant Igbo extended goodwill to Muslim faithful in Delta State, Nigeria, and across the world, wishing them a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr. He also expressed hope for a more secure and progressive nation, highlighting the NSCDC's ongoing efforts to contribute to national stability through such strategic deployments.

This deployment underscores the NSCDC's proactive stance in addressing security challenges during major events, ensuring that celebrations proceed without incident and that critical assets remain protected from potential threats.
