The police spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, revealed that the incident began at approximately 11:30 AM when unidentified Fulani youths launched a surprise attack on the police team. The tactical units comprised personnel from multiple specialized departments including the Rapid Response Squad, Mobile Police 10PMF Bauchi, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and the State Intelligence Department.

During the intense gun battle that followed the ambush, five officers paid the ultimate price while two others suffered various degrees of injuries. The emergency response team successfully evacuated both the injured and deceased personnel to Darazo General Hospital for medical attention. The remains of the fallen officers were deposited at the hospital morgue.
