The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismantled a six-man kidnapping syndicate following a fierce gun duel that resulted in the neutralization of two suspects and the arrest of another. The operation took place on May 3, 2026, in the Karshi area bordering the FCT and Nasarawa State, based on credible intelligence.
Operation Details
According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the police team acted on intelligence and conducted a coordinated raid on the suspects’ hideout. Upon sighting the police, the gang members opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the confrontation, the gang leader, identified as Baba Ibrahim, also known as “Tsoho,” and another suspect, Isah Shehu, were neutralized. Three other gang members escaped with suspected bullet wounds, while one suspect was apprehended.
Recovered Items
A search of the hideout yielded two AK-47 rifles, one pistol, and 17 rounds of live ammunition. Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate, led by Baba Ibrahim, included Khalid, Dan Geskiya, Mohammadu Mai Tsage, Isah Shehu, and one Dogo.
Links to Multiple Crimes
The gang is believed to be responsible for numerous kidnapping incidents across Gwagwalada, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, and Karshi areas of the FCT, with at least 12 victims abducted. The statement further indicated that the syndicate engaged in heinous acts, including the sexual assault of a female victim and the murder of three victims even after receiving ransom payments totaling over sixty million naira.
Ongoing Efforts
Police efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members, while the arrested suspect will be charged in court after investigations are concluded. The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD, FCAI, commended the operatives of the Anti-Violence Crime Unit for their professionalism, bravery, and tactical precision.

The command called on hospitals and medical practitioners within and around the FCT to promptly report any individuals presenting with gunshot wounds or suspicious injuries to the nearest police station.
