New Police Finance Chief Takes Over

The Nigeria Police Force has witnessed a significant leadership change in its financial administration. Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has officially approved the posting of Mohammed Adamu Dankwara as the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration.

This important announcement came through an official statement released on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin. The appointment marks a crucial step in the ongoing reorganization of the police force leadership structure.

Leadership Transition and Previous Role

Dankwara assumes his new position following the retirement of Sahabo Abubakar Yahaya, who concluded an impressive career spanning more than 30 years of what the police force described as "distinguished and meritorious service." The transition represents both continuity and fresh leadership in police financial management.

Before his elevation to the prestigious DIG position, Mohammed Dankwara served as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja. During his tenure in this critical role, he demonstrated what authorities characterized as "exceptional leadership, professionalism and dedication to duty."

Strategic Vision for Police Administration

IGP Egbetokun, while congratulating the new DIG, expressed strong confidence that Dankwara would effectively deploy his extensive experience to strengthen the administrative operations of the Nigeria Police Force. The police chief emphasized that this strategic posting aligns with comprehensive efforts to reposition the force for improved efficiency in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed his administration's commitment to protecting lives and property through strategic leadership appointments and enhanced performance across all police formations. This appointment represents part of a broader initiative to ensure optimal resource management within the police institution.

This development follows IGP Egbetokun's recent emphasis on intelligence gathering as the foundation of effective policing in the 21st century. During an August inspection of state-of-the-art intelligence installations at Idu Community in Abuja, the police boss highlighted the force's commitment to harnessing technology, innovation, and expertise to stay ahead of emerging security threats.

The police force continues to pursue stronger collaborations with security experts, including partnerships with indigenous security solutions providers like EIB STRATOC, to enhance the national security architecture and build community trust.
