The Nigeria Police Force has strongly addressed what it describes as 'feud-mongers' attempting to create division among the country's security agencies. This response comes following circulating reports about an alleged assassination attempt on a Nigerian Navy officer, Lieutenant A.M. Yerima, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, took to social media on Monday, November 17, 2025, to firmly deny these claims and emphasize the strong working relationship between Nigeria's various security institutions. The police spokesman stated that security agencies remain united in their commitment to protecting the nation.
Official Denial and Evidence of Collaboration
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command had earlier described the reports about the alleged assassination attempt as completely false and unverified. To further demonstrate the existing cooperation between security agencies, Hundeyin shared photographs showing the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetoku, alongside the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), and other security officials.
The visual evidence was presented to counter what authorities consider malicious rumors aimed at creating unnecessary tension between the Nigeria Police Force and other security organizations. In his statement directed at those he accused of inciting clashes between security agencies, CSP Hundeyin delivered a clear message: "O ye feud-mongers, inciting inter-agency clashes, please note that the synergy is way stronger than that. We remain focused, as team players, in securing our dear nation both from within and without."
The police spokesperson emphasized that security personnel across all agencies are maintaining their focus on the primary objective of national security, rather than engaging in internal conflicts as suggested by the circulating reports.
