Police Debunk Attack Claims on Naval Lieutenant

Police Set Record Straight on Kubwa Expressway Incident

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has strongly refuted circulating social media reports alleging an attack on Naval Lieutenant Ahmed Yerima during a routine security operation. The Command has labeled these publications as completely false and deliberately misleading.

Detailed Timeline of the November 16 Incident

According to the official police statement released on Monday, November 17, 2025, the incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on November 16, 2025 at the NNPC junction along Kubwa Expressway. A police patrol team conducting standard stop-and-search operations intercepted an ash-colored Toyota Camry vehicle.

The vehicle drew police attention due to two significant violations: a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows. Following established security protocols, officers approached the vehicle and politely requested identification from the occupant along with an explanation for the vehicle's condition.

How the Situation Unfolded

Contrary to cooperation expectations, the vehicle's occupant, later identified as Lt. Ahmed Yerima, refused to provide identification. Instead, he proceeded to make several phone calls while rolling up his already tinted windows, effectively cutting off communication with the police officers.

The situation took a diplomatic turn when three naval personnel arrived at the location minutes later. They cordially identified the vehicle occupant as their colleague and were observed documenting the encounter through video and photographs before departing the scene.

Following this official confirmation of identity, the police team immediately allowed the vehicle to proceed without further delay. Operations resumed normally without any additional incidents reported.

Police Response to Social Media Claims

The FCT Police Command expressed surprise at discovering what they described as "maliciously crafted tales" circulating on social media platforms the following day. Particularly concerning were allegations that escalated to claims of assassination attempts, which the Command thoroughly denied.

Commissioner of Police FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye Psc, used this opportunity to call on FCT residents and visitors to always cooperate with police officers during lawful duties. He emphasized the importance of verifying information before sharing and cautioned against spreading unverified news that could create unnecessary fear and apprehension within the community.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to professional conduct during security operations and provided emergency contact numbers for legitimate reports and inquiries: 08032003913, 08068587311, and the CRU line at 08107314192.
