Activist Deji Adeyanju Says Nigerians Can't Afford 24-Hour Electricity
Deji Adeyanju: Nigerians Can't Afford 24-Hour Power

Nigerian activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has ignited a heated discussion online after sharing his perspective on electricity expectations in the country. Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, he claimed that many Nigerians are not even demanding round-the-clock power because they cannot afford it.

"Nigerians don't want 24-hour light, they can't even afford it," Adeyanju stated. According to him, what most people truly desire is simple: electricity during key periods, particularly at night and early in the morning. He explained that Nigerians would prefer to have power when they return home to sleep comfortably and early in the morning to prepare for their day.

Adeyanju further suggested that electricity supply could then be directed to factories and businesses during daytime hours. His comments have drawn mixed reactions, with some agreeing on the affordability issue while others argue that reliable power is a basic necessity that should be accessible to all.
