Police Rescue Abducted Worshippers in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has announced the rescue of worshippers abducted during a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) crusade in Eda Oniyo-Ekiti, Ilejemeje Local Government Area. The victims, mostly residents of the community, were freed on Friday following a coordinated security operation.

Details of the Abduction

The worshippers were abducted on Tuesday, April 28, when gunmen attacked an open-air crusade organized by CAC. The officiating pastor was killed during the attack, and 15 worshippers were taken to an unknown destination. Among the victims were mostly women, two young boys, and children aged two to four years.

The abductors initially demanded N1 billion ransom but later reduced it to N50 million. The community raised and paid N10.5 million, but the kidnappers refused to release the victims. One of the 15 kidnapped victims reportedly died in captivity, while the remaining survivors are said to be in critical physical and emotional condition.
