The North-East Team of the National Preparedness and Response Campaign (NPRC) 2026 has ramped up community engagement activities in selected areas within Yola South and Yola North local government councils of Adamawa State. This initiative aims to bolster disaster preparedness and enhance community resilience against potential hazards.
Community Engagement Details
Led by Zonal Director Mr. Suleiman Yakubu, the team focused on sensitizing residents about disaster preparedness, improving early warning awareness, and strengthening community resilience. In Yola South, the team visited Makama, Mbamba, Angwan Tarbo, and Shagari communities. In Yola North, engagements covered Gbonronji and Rimawa communities.
Collaborative Efforts
The campaign was conducted in partnership with the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs), and traditional and community leaders. Their active involvement significantly contributed to the exercise's success, demonstrating strong grassroots support for disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness initiatives.

According to organizers, the engagement underscores a shared commitment among stakeholders to promote safer, more informed, and resilient communities across Adamawa State. The NPRC 2026 continues to prioritize community-based approaches to mitigate disaster impacts.
