A three-year-old boy was found dead in a hot car on Wednesday evening, June 24, during a severe heatwave in France that saw temperatures soar to 44°C. The incident occurred in Saint-Gratien, Val-d'Oise, and emergency services were called at around 7 p.m.
Parents Believed Child Was Napping
According to French publication Le Parisien, the boy told his parents he wanted to take a nap and was asked to go to his room to sleep. Both parents thought he was in his room until they frantically realized he was missing. Approximately 45 minutes later, he was discovered in the family vehicle, already in cardiac arrest.
Mother's Scream Alerted Bus Driver
When the mother found the child, she let out a scream that caused a passing bus driver to stop and perform CPR until emergency services arrived. Despite efforts, the boy could not be saved. Police are investigating how and why the child entered the car.
Similar Incident Earlier This Week
This tragedy follows another incident earlier in the week in a different part of France, where two children aged two and four died in a hot car after their mother reportedly forgot them. The heatwave has raised concerns about child safety in vehicles.
