Fatal Auto Crash Claims One Life on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
A tragic auto accident occurred along the Mowe axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The collision involved a white Toyota Camry with registration number APP 688 JR and an unidentified truck. According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the crash took place on Monday and involved three adults: one male and two females.
The deceased was identified as a female adult, while the injured included one male and one female adult. Akinbiyi attributed the accident to excessive speed by the Toyota driver, who rammed into the moving truck. Emergency responders from TRACE, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and OGSAES were promptly on the scene to conduct rescue operations.
Emergency Response and Aftermath
The injured victims were rushed to Famobis Hospital and Redeemed Hospital for medical treatment. The body of the deceased was deposited at the morgue of Redeemed Hospital. Meanwhile, the vehicles involved in the crash have been towed to Papal Oscar cage for further investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
Separate Brake Failure Incident Kills Three in Ibadan
In a separate and equally devastating incident, approximately three individuals lost their lives, and others sustained injuries following a brake failure in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. The tragedy unfolded around the Beere axis of the ancient city, involving a heavy-duty trailer that caused widespread panic among residents and traders.
Eyewitnesses reported that the articulated vehicle was descending from Beere Roundabout after passing through Oja'Oba when it developed mechanical faults. The driver reportedly lost control as the braking system failed while approaching Beere Junction. This led to the trailer veering off course and plowing into multiple road users, including cars, commercial motorcyclists, and pedestrians.

The impact created a trail of destruction, with the worst-hit area being Iso-Osan, popularly known as Orange Market. Here, the vehicle rammed into shops and roadside structures, destroying goods and injuring several traders and residents. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with people scrambling for safety and others trapped in the path of the speeding trailer.
Emergency responders and security personnel arrived promptly to evacuate victims, restore order, and manage traffic disruptions caused by the incident. The deceased have been deposited in a morgue, while the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some victims were reported to be in critical condition at the time of reporting.
