The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Ahmed Alkali, has issued a strong condemnation of a devastating bomb explosion that ripped through a mosque in Borno State, labeling the assault as "barbaric and inhumane."
Details of the Gamboru Market Mosque Attack
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, at the Al Adum Jummuat Mosque located within the bustling Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. Preliminary reports from security agencies confirmed a significant casualty toll from the explosion that targeted worshippers.
In an official statement released on Thursday, December 25, Senator Alkali expressed his profound outrage. "This is a barbaric act that has no place in any civilised society," the minister declared, emphasizing the severity of the violence directed at a place of worship.
Casualty Figures and Emergency Response
According to the Borno State Police Command, the attack resulted in the tragic loss of five lives. Furthermore, thirty-five other individuals sustained injuries of varying severity in the blast.
The wounded victims are currently receiving urgent medical care. They have been admitted to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri. Security operatives have launched a full-scale investigation into the attack, although details about the perpetrators remain undisclosed as inquiries continue.
