NAF Airstrike Hits Terrorist Hideout in Katsina Forest

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted a precise air operation in Katsina State, successfully destroying a suspected terrorist logistics base and neutralizing multiple fighters as part of an intensified campaign against armed groups.

This development was revealed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Ehimen Ejodame, who confirmed that the operation occurred on May 1 under the auspices of the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma.

According to the statement, the airstrike targeted a location within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area, identified as a crucial logistics hub associated with terrorist leader Abasu Aiki and his network, which operates across the Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua axis.

Ejodame noted that intelligence reports indicated a resurgence of terrorist activity in the area, prompting a swift military response. “NAF air assets identified armed terrorists on motorcycles alongside other fighters within the enclave and executed a coordinated strike on the location,” he said.

“Battle damage assessment confirmed that several terrorists were neutralized, while the logistics hub and associated structures were destroyed,” Ejodame added.

He further explained that the airstrike triggered secondary explosions and widespread fires, significantly diminishing the group's operational capacity and disrupting its supply chain.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist infrastructure and prevent forested areas from being used as safe havens for criminal elements, according to the Air Force. Ejodame emphasized that the strike represents a strategic gain in limiting the movement and resupply of armed groups in the region, reaffirming the military's commitment to sustained pressure on terrorist networks.
