Organised Insecurity Against Tinubu’s Administration Will Fail

Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Steve Karimi, has declared that all forms of banditry and mass abductions aimed at destabilising President Bola Tinubu's administration will fail, insisting that the country is facing a temporary phase of insecurity.

Karimi made the remarks at the weekend while receiving constituents from the seven local government areas of Kogi West at his Abuja residence, where they visited to felicitate with him on his third year in office.

He described the current wave of insecurity as “orchestrated and targeted attempts” to distract the federal government from its developmental agenda. “What Nigeria is experiencing is an orchestrated and targeted embarrassment to unsettle the administration of President Bola Tinubu and distract it from its set objectives,” he said.

According to him, “local miscreants and their foreign collaborators” are behind coordinated attacks aimed at creating fear and instability across the country. He noted that recent incidents of kidnapping and insecurity in several states were part of what he described as “synchronised and asymmetric assaults” on the nation.

Karimi, however, maintained that the situation would not last, expressing confidence that insecurity in the country would “blow over” and become a footnote in Nigeria's history. He commended President Tinubu for what he described as sustained efforts to tackle insecurity, including support for security agencies and moves toward the establishment of state police.

“Our security services deserve every commendation. The enemies of the country are getting more daring, but our security personnel are rising to the challenge with the support of Mr President,” he said.

The senator also expressed optimism that schoolchildren recently abducted in Oyo and Borno States would be rescued and reunited with their families, noting that government was working to address the situation.

He further praised inter-agency collaboration among security forces, saying recent operations had recorded successes against insurgents and criminal groups across parts of the country.

Leader of the visiting delegation, Hon. Abdulganiyu Salaudeen, commended Senator Karimi for his performance in office, particularly his efforts toward infrastructural development and tackling insecurity in Kogi West. Salaudeen also highlighted ongoing advocacy for the rehabilitation of the Kabba–Isanlu–Egbe–Ilorin road, describing it as critical to the socio-economic development and security of the region.
