Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have confirmed the arrest of a wanted terrorist informant in Borno State. The operation marks a significant blow to the intelligence network of terrorist groups operating in the region.
Arrest Details
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), disclosed this in a statement released on May 4, 2026. According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Ali Muhammad, had been on the unit’s watchlist for some time.
“Troops of 254 Battalion under Headquarters Sector 2 arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, Ali Muhammad (30), at Ngamdu Market,” the statement read. The arrest was carried out during a routine patrol in the area.
Items Recovered
The suspect was found in possession of several incriminating items, including a sum of cash, a keypad mobile phone, a wallet containing identification cards, charms, a knife, and an exercise book containing phone numbers of suspected terrorist contacts. These items are believed to be crucial for ongoing investigations.

Interrogation and Impact
Ali Muhammad has been handed over to Sector 2 Headquarters for detailed interrogation. The military believes that his capture will provide valuable intelligence to dismantle terrorist networks in the area.
“The arrest is considered a major disruption to the intelligence network of terrorist elements operating within the area,” the statement concluded. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by security forces to combat insurgency in the North East region.
