The 2026 Nigeria Polo Association Ibadan International Tournament witnessed a significant boost in glamour as prominent personalities, including Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo (popularly known as Sunday Igboho) and the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, attended the seventh day of the competition at the Ibadan Polo Club, Eleyele, Oyo State.

The tournament, marking 120 years of polo activities in Ibadan, attracted players, enthusiasts, business leaders and dignitaries from different parts of the country. Saturday’s fixtures delivered thrilling moments for spectators. In one of the day’s matches, Ibadan DFL/WDP defeated Ibadan Lead City/Premium Trust Team 2.5. Another closely contested game saw BAH Oil and Gas Kano edge Red Crown Polo Jos 5-4.5 in a pulsating encounter that kept supporters on the edge until the final chukka.

The presence of Igboho and traditional rulers added colour to the event as guests interacted with players, club officials and supporters at the polo ground.
