Team Nigeria has wrapped up its participation at the ongoing Ulaanbaatar 2026 United World Wrestling (UWW) 3rd Ranking Series in Mongolia, securing one silver and two bronze medals on Saturday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hannah Ojo and Esther Kolawole contributed silver and bronze respectively, joining Christianah Ogunsanya in the medal tally.

Ojo's Performance

Hannah Ojo delivered an outstanding 10-0 victory against Mongolia's Tuvshinjargal Tarav to advance to the semi-finals, where she defeated India's Priya 5-1. However, the reigning African champion fell short in the final, losing 0-8 to India's Kajal and settling for the silver medal.

Kolawole's Bronze

Esther Kolawole secured a bronze medal by overwhelming China's Huan Yang 10-0. Earlier, she made a strong statement by upsetting Russian world number one Amina Tandelova 6-0, but narrowly lost 4-5 to world silver medallist Kim Ok-ju of North Korea.

Team Overview

Team Nigeria concluded the tournament with three medals from four female wrestlers: Mercy Genesis (50kg), Tolulope Ogunsanya (53kg), Esther Kolawole (62kg), and Hannah Ojo (76kg). The Ulaanbaatar Open, the third of four UWW Ranking Series events, provides wrestlers with crucial seeding points for global championships. The competition began on June 4 and ended on Saturday.
