Onana heading back to Turkey
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to return to Trabzonspor on loan for a second consecutive season, according to reports. The Cameroon international has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford following the emergence of Senne Lammens, who has established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper.
Impressive 2025-26 campaign
According to the Daily Mail, United are prepared to sanction another temporary move to Turkey, where Onana impressed during the 2025-26 campaign. The 30-year-old helped Trabzonspor lift the Turkish Cup against Konyaspor in May, showcasing his value despite being deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United.
Contract and financial details
Although the club would prefer a permanent transfer to recover part of the £47.2 million paid to Inter Milan in 2023, a loan is viewed as the most realistic outcome. Onana remains under contract for two more years but is not expected to feature in the Red Devils' plans, with his high wages and profile making a backup role impractical.
Onana's future at United
The decision to extend Onana's loan underscores the club's desire to offload his salary while allowing him to maintain his market value. Trabzonspor, who benefited from his services last season, are keen to secure his return as they aim to build on their cup success.
