Arsenal's Premier League Title Could Earn Chelsea £12 Million in Add-Ons

Chelsea could be set to benefit from a huge windfall if their London rivals Arsenal eventually win the 2025/26 Premier League title. The Blues have inserted performance-related add-ons in the sales of three former players now at Arsenal: Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Arsenal are closing in on their first league title since the 2003/04 season, when Arsene Wenger's team completed the campaign unbeaten. Mikel Arteta's side have been in the title race for four consecutive seasons, and this year they are firmly in control with only two matches remaining. Their celebrations could begin early if Manchester City fail to beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Arsenal would then seal the title against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on May 18 if they win and City drop points.

Additionally, Arsenal are in their first UEFA Champions League final since 2006, facing Paris Saint-Germain at Puskas Arena in Budapest on May 30. This puts Chelsea fans in a dilemma: their biggest rivals are on course to win two major trophies, but the club could benefit financially.

How Chelsea Could Profit

According to Chelsea Chronicles, the Blues could receive up to £12 million from add-ons if Arsenal win both the Premier League and Champions League. The details are as follows:

  • Kai Havertz: Sold for £67.5 million in summer 2023, including £5 million in performance-related add-ons.
  • Noni Madueke: Sold in summer 2025 for an initial £48.5 million, plus £4 million in add-ons.
  • Kepa Arrizabalaga: Joined Arsenal permanently after a £5 million release clause was triggered, with reports suggesting an additional £3 million add-on if Arsenal win the Premier League and Champions League.

While the financial boost is welcome, many Chelsea fans feel the pride lost in seeing their rivals succeed is not worth the money. Chelsea have benefited from similar clauses before, such as when they received add-ons for Eden Hazard after Real Madrid won the Champions League, and when they paid Bayer Leverkusen for Havertz after he won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021.

Arsenal's Champions League Earnings

Arsenal have also earned significant prize money from reaching the Champions League final, based on performance, ranking, and regional TV rights. The Gunners have accumulated the most revenue from the competition this season.
