While the competition on the field between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain has been intense, the two clubs have maintained a cordial relationship off the pitch. However, that rapport may have suffered a setback as Bayern denied PSG the use of the Infinity Hotel, the team's usual pre-game accommodation, according to bavarianfootballworks.com.
Superstition Behind PSG's Request
PSG had requested to stay at the Infinity Hotel in Munich for the return leg of the Champions League semifinal, citing superstition. The same hotel served as their base last season when they won the Champions League at the Allianz Arena, as reported by Bild and L'Equipe (via @iMiaSanMia).
However, the Infinity Hotel is where Bayern typically stays before home matches. Located just 20 kilometers (about 15 minutes) from the Allianz Arena, it offers convenient access to the stadium. For Bayern, allowing PSG to use the hotel was out of the question.
Bayern's Firm Stance
Vincent Kompany and Christoph Freund insisted when asked about the situation: 'This is our city. We're staying at Infinity. We're not giving up our home hotel. This is our home game and our city.' Consequently, PSG will have to find alternative accommodation and will stay at the Andaz hotel at Schwabinger Tor, which is also conveniently located near the A9 motorway leading to the Allianz Arena.
