Michael Kayode signs new Brentford deal until 2032

British-Nigerian full-back Michael Kayode has committed his long-term future to Premier League side Brentford by signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2032, with the Bees holding an option to extend for a further year. The 21-year-old joined Brentford from Fiorentina just over a year ago in a deal worth €18 million, initially on loan with an obligation to buy, which was activated last summer.

Kayode delighted to extend stay

Speaking to the official Brentford website, Kayode expressed his joy at signing the new deal. "I feel like this club is a family, so I wanted to continue my journey here. I have amazing relationships that make me really like coming in for the morning to train and have fun with my team-mates, the staff and all the people around," he said. "Ever since I joined the club, everything has been amazing. It feels like I’ve been playing for Brentford for 10 years. I’ve improved a lot on the pitch and outside of the pitch. That’s really important for me."

Impressive debut season

In his first full season in England, Kayode made 44 appearances across all competitions for Brentford, scoring one goal and providing two assists. His performances earned him a nomination for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award, highlighting his rapid development since arriving from Italy.

Head coach praises defender

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews lauded Kayode's impact and growth. "Michael had an amazing season last year. He epitomised everything good that we do. His development and evolution has been really, really impressive," Andrews told the club website. "Michael’s someone that we love working with every single day, who comes in with such an enthusiastic demeanour, and is a joy to be around and to coach. We’re absolutely delighted that he wants to stay because we love having him here, and this new contract is absolutely deserved."

Contract details and future

The new contract, signed on 3 July 2026, ensures Kayode remains a Brentford player until at least 2032. The club also has the option to extend the deal by one more year, reflecting their belief in the young defender's potential. Kayode's versatility as a full-back has been a key asset for the Bees, and his commitment signals his desire to continue his development at the London club.
